The Green Hub Project for Teens has been very busy over the last few weeks so we thought you would be interested to read a round-up of what’s been going on behind the scenes.  Click on the links below to read all their news:

I am Ruth

It has been an extraordinary November! We started on a high, when Kate Winslet and Dominic Savage (the Director of I Am Ruth) were guests at our event ‘Understanding I Am Ruth’. There are links to articles about this that we think you’ll enjoy.

(Re)location, (re)location, (re)location

When we planned the Understanding I Am Ruth event, we worked hard to make sure we were ready for every eventuality.

But it’s fair to say that we hadn’t allowed for the Godalming Water Crisis over the weekend of 4th – 6th November!!!

Our event was timed for the evening of 6th November – and on Sunday 5th it became clear that there was a good chance that we wouldn’t be able to use our booked venue at Charterhouse, due to the water problem.

We hope it says a lot about how the Green Hub team works together.

Stars in Surrey

Tuesday night saw a group of six of the team heading off to a properly-posh awards ceremony at G Live in Guildford, hopeful that me might get the Make it Happen Community Hero award, having been shortlisted to the final three.

Long story short – we didn’t win, but thatSO did not matter. It really was such an accolade to be included at this event. It was awe-inspiring seeing all the amazing things people in Surrey are doing.

Undoubtedly the support of our volunteers has been critical in helping us achieve this recognition. So, thank you!

Two pieces of key funding

We are delighted to have been awarded £10,000 by Community Foundation Surrey, made up from two different funders. This is super-important funding as it covers our ‘core costs’.

A lot of funders want to focus on projects, but it is the day-to-day costs that are the life-blood of what we all do, week in week out. So this funding is critical for us.

We were delighted to meet June and Neil from Orchard Environmental who came out to see as at Hydons and Milford last week, along with Josephine and Beccy from CSF. It was a VERY cold day!!!

In addition, we have been awarded a £2,700 by theAssura Social Impact Fund to help us develop our winter facilities at Hydons and Milford. John and James are in the process of agreeing what the plan is!
