On Saturday 6 June, Luck’s Yard Clinic in Milford hosted a taster day from 11am-1pm to celebrate its second anniversary. The therapists were there to offer treatments as well as introductory talks on posture and acupuncture to support MS Therapy Group (Guildford).
Despite the recession, Luck’s Yard is very busy and now has ten therapists offering chiropractic, chiropody, podiatry, reflexology, aromatherapy, lymph drainage, acupuncture, sports therapy and nutritional therapy. The Clinic is unique in that the therapists liaise with one another for the benefit of the individual patient and often work together.
Chiropractic and acupuncture have been in the news recently as a result of the NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) guidelines recommending up to nine sessions of spinal manipulation or ten sessions of acupuncture needling on the NHS for persistent non-specific low back pain.
“Social responsibility is very important to us”, says chiropractor and Clinic Director Tone Tellefsen Hughes “and we have been to most of the primary schools in the area to teach the importance of good posture.”
Other activities include workshops for pilates and yoga teachers on how to adapt the classes for those who suffer from back and neck pain. The chiropody/podiatry team continues to be very busy and hopes to extend its services soon.
