I have been based at Luck’s Yard Clinic now for nearly a year and within that time I have built up a lovely client base of regulars – most of whom I regale with tales of what unexpected things my 4 year old has been doing, or what pops out of his mouth to unintentionally and innocently embarrass me like all toddlers seem to manage when they have no filter! I’m very open with my clients and I believe building a rapport paves the way to strengthen trust and a connection between us.

Being interested in my clients and their lives is very important to me: it helps me to understand their stress levels, life balance and mentality requirements during their treatment that they themselves may not even realise they need at the time. Sometimes people just need time and space to breathe properly and have permission to just stop and slow down. Mind-body connection is often overlooked and lost and to help rebalance this is encouraged during my sessions.

I have just enrolled in a biomechanics course, which I’m really excited about studying. Biomechanics is the science of movement of the body and how muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments work together to move. I believe it will enhance my Sports Therapy practice and give my clients an even bigger toolbox to go away with so they can help themselves to retrain inadequate posture and repair to reduce pain and discomfort. Massage is fantastic therapy to ease discomfort and has lots of other wonderful benefits too; but for me the ideal is to identify the root cause of a poor posture and then correct this for the longterm.

I love being active and think this has such a positive impact on wellbeing. For me, being part of a sports team gives me the most motivation. I played ladies football from the age of 11 and the camaraderie team spirit and friendships kept me playing for far longer than my body would have liked! My dearest friends now are from those days, and I consider myself to be very fortunate that I had parents willing to drive me for hours around the South of England to stand for 90 minutes in a cold, muddy, and often poor excuse of a football pitch on a weekend!

Now I just need to encourage my little boy to play a team sport inside to avoid the same fate……!!

I’m here at Lucks Yard on a Tuesday and Wednesday available for appointments between 45 and 75 minutes.  You can book online or via the Reception team on 01483 527945.
