We are delighted to welcome Kerry Pilbeam to the Luck’s Yard team.

With over 20 years of experience, Kerry is a counsellor and psychotherapist, committed to helping people navigate personal struggles and achieve emotional wellbeing.

She is accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and has worked extensively in the NHS’s Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), specialising in supporting young people (12-24 years old), their families, and carers. She also brings years of experience from her voluntary work with Cruse Bereavement Support, helping individuals across all stages of life.

Kerry works within a trauma-sensitive, empathic framework, ensuring a non-judgmental and safe space for healing, with core values that include:

  • Consent: Clear communication about the therapy process so you know exactly what to expect.
  • Expectations: You are the expert on your own life.  Kerry works at your pace, guided by your needs.
  • Choice: Therapy can be goal-oriented or an open space for exploration; single session, short-term (6-12 sessions), long-term, the approach is always led by you and there is no wrong way of ‘doing’ therapy.  Regular reviews throughout the work are encouraged in order to ensure the therapy remains on track and meeting your needs.
  • Good Working Alliance: Trust, respect, and professional boundaries form the foundation for a successful therapeutic relationship.  Without this, therapy, no matter the model is unlikely to be successful.

With qualifications including an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling (2002), BA(Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy (2008) Certificate in Clinical Supervision, and a range of CPD courses, Kerry brings deep expertise to her practice. Her training includes:

  • Person-Centred, Gestalt, and Existential counselling models
  • Post-graduate Certificate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Children and Young People
  • Trauma-informed approaches and specialised courses in Autism, ADHD, Developmental Trauma.
  • Somatic Alignment Practitioner, focused on the impact of trauma on the body and the nervous system (posture, breath, movement, energy field).
  • Suicide awareness, risk support and safety planning.

Kerry has an enhanced DBS with relevant Safeguarding Children Level 3, Safeguarding Adults Level 2 training in place.  For anyone under 18 seeking support, Surrey Safeguarding Children procedures will apply and confidentially will be broken if you are at significant risk of harming yourself, someone else, or someone else is likely to harm you or someone else under the age of 18.

Kerry values building a strong, collaborative relationship and encourages an initial conversation to discuss your needs and ensure she is the right fit for you. If she’s not the right fit or offering a service she thinks will meet your needs, she can provide advice and signpost you to the most relevant services.

Kerry will be working on Saturday mornings starting from Saturday 1st March and can be contacted here:
