I am the co-founder of a new project called The Wellbeing Garden Project for Teens.
It is like an extension of the Surrey Teen Summit which we ran successfully for four years. We have a new project now and our main purpose is to offer therapeutic gardening sessions for teens in a secluded walled garden behind the clinic. This will be up and running early next year.
The project will be running under the NHS Primary Care Trust and individual teenagers will be referred via the Milford and Witley GP Surgeries.
We are also running talks and workshops with a focus on wellbeing to empower teens and support their parents. This way we can reach more people and not just those who attend the gardening sessions.
The talks have been created as a direct result of the many issues we see our teens are struggling with. The rise in mental health, anxiety and emotional issues faced by today’s teenagers is rising and we would love to be able to help them.
Our talks are aimed to help and support any teenagers with strategies and techniques to manage the challenges they face.
